PREMIUM GRADE GERMAN C50 CARBON STEEL HEAD with powder coated finish - Ideal logo stamped - Heat treated and oil hardened. The steel blank is heated to approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. An indentation is pressed into the blank from both sides. The steel is rolled in multiple stages, which is strengthening the steel and increasing density. A bead blasted finish creates an even and matte appearance, while protecting against rust and corrosion.
HANDLE - FSC CERTIFIED GERMAN ASH - Straight shaft - Straight Grip - Individually selected for grain orientation and density - 150 grit smooth sanded - Linseed oil finish. Our saw mill cuts the Ash logs into planks, which are then stored and softly air dried for 9 to 10 months, depending on the weather in Northern Europe that season. Our proprietary drying process will bring the wood's moisture content down to a precise level, before the wood is ready to be made into handles.
DURABILITY - Carbon steel is susceptible to rusting over time. Rust can be prevented by keeping the steel head oiled. If rusting does occur, use steel wool or an abrasive to remove the rust, and then wipe down with our Axe-Guard Head Oil. Axe-Guard is a metal protecting and rust preventative oil, and the residue is safe for contact on leather, wood, or skin.
